The aim of this website is to help raise both awareness and funds for the Parkinson’s Disease Society primarily through music but, hey, who knows what’s going to happen?  The idea of creating a website came after I and some musician friends of mine staged a Sunday afternoon/evening gig locally to raise some money specifically for the specialist nurses fund. The Parkinson Event One as it was called was such a success and thoroughly enjoyed by the audience and performers alike, we decided to take it a little more seriously. I say ‘we’; I suppose that should read ‘I’. I, after all, am the one who suffers with it. Diagnosed six years ago, I no longer work for a living but am enjoying a stable period at present so I figure it’s a case of ‘make hay while the sun shines’ or even if it’s raining, get out there and do something while you’re able. A year or 2 ago I would not have thought it possible that I could play drums again to a standard where I would dare get on stage! But now here we are discussing and planning  Event 4 and looking at where things can be improved. We have also recorded some of the things we performed ‘live’ at One and and is on sale now.
